The Carson City School District (CCSD) is asking learners and families to attend the free Multilingual Learner Expo Saturday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the High Tech Center at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road. The community-wide event will feature special guest speaker, Ms. Juliana Urtubey, 2021 National Teacher of the Year, featured in People Magazine.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce Carson High School’s Lieutenant Commander Daniel Meyer, Retired, Senior Naval Science Instructor, was honored Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, as one of the three statewide finalists for the Nevada State Teacher of the Year, recognized by the Nevada Department of Education.

Pro Treatment for Carson High Football from Las Vegas Raiders

The Carson High School Football team received professional treatment earlier this month while they were in Las Vegas for their game against Basic Academy. The Carson City gridiron athletes not only had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run drills and a full practice inside the Las Vegas Raiders’ state-of-the-art indoor practice facility, but they were also offered official Raider-branded memorabilia as tokens of their visit including hats and brand-new football cleats for some players whose shoes were torn up and worn-out.

NOTICE OF NONDISCRIMINATION UNDER TITLE IX

Carson City School District (“the school district”) does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, national origin, ancestry, genetic information, gender identify or expression or political affiliation in admission or access to, treatment, or participation in its programs and activities.  The District also provides equal access to the Boy Scouts of American and other designated youth groups.  All programs, classes, and opportunities are available to all students.

Title IX prohibits, among others, sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment, in violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.  Title IX provides that no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any school district education program or activity.  The school district is required by Title IX not to discriminate in such a manner.  Title IX applies to any school district education program or activity, whether such program or activity occurs on-campus or off-campus.  The requirement not to discriminate in the school district’s program or activity extends to employment.

Inquiries about the application of Title IX to the school district may be referred to the school district’s Title IX Coordinator, or to the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Ave., S.W., Washington, D.C.  20202, or both.

Complaints of sex discrimination and formal complaints of sexual harassment may be filed with the school district’s Title IX Coordinator. 

Carson City School District has established grievance procedures that further describe how to report or file a complaint of sex discrimination and how the school district will respond in Board Policy 104 and Administrative Regulation 401.  Carson City School District has established a grievance process that further describes how to report or file a formal complaint of sexual harassment and how the school district will respond in Board Policy and Administrative Regulations 301 and 401.
