The Carson City School District would like to share special thanks to City National Bank for generously donating $1,000 for books from Barnes and Noble as well as a large donation of backpacks to Fremont Elementary School students.

Fremont Librarian Rhiannon Moffat was able to purchase more than 100 titles of high-interest picture books, graphic novels and novels for the student library. Additionally, Fremont Social Worker Paulina Hernandez will be able to provide backpacks from this donation for students who need them throughout the remainder of the school year.

“It is our greatest hope that the backpacks recently received have been distributed to the student in your care, who need them most,” said Mark Chavez, assistant vice president of City National Bank, in a letter provided to the school. “In addition to our backpack donation, we are pleased to provide you with a $1,000 gift card to fill your library with new books. This additional gift was made possible by the many City National colleagues that continue to support our Back-to-School Drive.”

Contributing to the economic and cultural vitality of communities not only has a positive, measurable impact on the growth and prosperity to those communities, but it also makes good business sense for the bank, Chavez continued in the letter.

Fremont Elementary Principal Dr. Jennifer Ward-DeJoseph extended appreciation for this program offered through City National Bank.

“We live in a wonderful community full of generous individuals and organizations,” Ward-DeJoseph said. “This donation comes at a crucial time of need, and we are grateful for community donations like these.”
