Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is working with the Carson City School District to offer children all school-required vaccinations Aug. 9-13 and Aug. 16 (first day of school) 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at their clinic at 900 E. Long Street in Carson City, 775-887-2195.

Additionally, Nevada Health Centers is hosting outdoor walk-up immunization clinics every Wednesday, starting July 28 through Aug. 18, to help school-aged children receive immunizations required for school enrollment. Immunizations will be offered between the hours of 8:00 and 11:30 a.m. at the Carson City School-based Health Center located at 618 West Musser Street, behind Gleason School. Vaccinations are administered on a first-come first-served basis. For more information, call 800-787-2568.

CCHHS’ Vaccines for Children Program provides vaccines for children 18 years of age and younger who are uninsured, have Medicaid, are underinsured or Alaska Native or American Indian. A vaccine administration fee of $20—$40 is charged based on the number of vaccinations given. CCHHS bills most private insurances and Medicaid. A list of the insurances that they take can be found on their website.

Children enrolling in a Nevada-based public school must have certain immunizations on record in order to attend school. Nevada law requires immunizations for childcare, school and university entry unless excused because of religious belief or medical condition. The requirements are for beginning kindergartners, students entering the seventh grade and university students and any student new to a Nevada school district.
