Fritsch Elementary School Sends Three Archers to Nationals

Three fifth graders from Fritsch Elementary School competed in the National Archery Tournament at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy, Utah last weekend, April 28-29, 2023. Out of nearly 3,000 participants from more than 200 schools nationwide, Teddy Hohl shot a 241, Finn Russell shot a 199 and Wyatt Valentine shot a 160, earning them an overall ranking of 83, 186 and 211 respectively.   READ MORE...

More than two dozen Carson High School (CHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students attended the state conference in Las Vegas this past week, and of the 26 students, 13 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga. this coming June. Middle school wrestlers from northern Nevada gathered at Pershing County High School in Lovelock Saturday, March 25, for the 2023 Tah-Nevada Middle School Wrestling Championship Tournament. In total, there were 261 wrestlers representing 17 schools, from White Pine County to Truckee, Calif. Carson City School District students and educators helped open the first day of Nevada’s 2023 State Legislative Session Monday, February 6, 2023. To begin, the Carson High School NJROTC honor guard presented the colors, prior to the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the National Anthem, sung by Mark Twain Elementary Music Educator Christina Bourne. Three Carson City Students Punch Their Way to the Top

A sixth grader from Carson Middle School (CMS) and a pair of Carson High School (CHS) sophomore boxing athletes have punched their way to the top, winning both state (in Las Vegas, Nov. 19, 2022) and regional championships (in Compton, Calif., Jan. 6-8, 2023) and are now gearing up to compete at the national level at the Silver Gloves National Finals, hosted in Independence, Mo. Carson City Schools Observe 2-hour Delayed Start Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023

As a result of the winter storm disrupting travel throughout the region, all Carson City School District schools will observe a delayed 2-hour schedule Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023. Buses will also operate on a 2-hour delay, so arrival times will be approximately 2-hours later than usual. There will be no Pre-School classes or breakfast served at school.  READ MORE...
New Trustees and New Leadership Roles for Carson City School Board

At their first meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, the Carson City School District was pleased to welcome two new recently elected board members Trustee Matt Clapham, District 3, and Trustee Molly Walt, District 6. Lupe Ramirez and Richard Varner were also recognized for being re-elected to their positions as trustees. Additionally, the board elected new officers to serve in leadership roles.  READ MORE...

Governor Joe Lombardo Meets with 17+ Nevada School Superintendents

Nevada’s new Governor Joe Lombardo was sworn into office Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, and did not waste time in his new position to meet with Nevada’s 17 school superintendents and the executive director of the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority in Carson City Thursday morning, Jan. 5, 2023, at the Nevada Association of School Superintendents (NASS) monthly meeting.  READ MORE...
