Carson City School District Statement on Mask Mandate

The Carson City School Board approved the Carson City School District’s Safe Reopening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, at the school board meeting Tuesday, July 13, 2021. The Plan passed with a unanimous vote of 7-0. School district officials say they have no plans to change or alter the approved plan. However, because Carson City currently has a “substantial or high transmission rate” of the COVID-19 virus or its variants, our community joins 11 other counties in the state that will begin the school year with a facemask mandate for all students, staff and visitors regardless of vaccination status.

Pre-K to begin classes Monday, Aug. 23.

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is working with the Carson City School District to offer children all school-required vaccinations Aug. 9-13 and Aug. 16 (first day of school) 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at their clinic at 900 E. Long Street in Carson City, 775-887-2195.

After making various revisions based on community input received, the Carson City School Board approved the Carson City School District’s Safe Reopening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, at the school board meeting Tuesday, July 13, 2021. The motion passed with a unanimous vote of 7-0.

“The federal and state response to the COVID-19 pandemic has incentivized individuals to stay home, out of the workforce, and draw from unemployment,” said Associate Superintendent Jose Delfin, who oversees the Human Resources Department for the Carson City School District. “Of course, last year, when people could not physically leave their homes, that made sense. But now as we are reopening more fully, many positions continue to remain vacant.”

06-15-17 Pedaling Books During Summer School
The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
