Senior Spotlight: Carson High’s Mikey Hoffer

Michael Hoffer, affectionately known as “Mikey” at Carson High School, is a student who radiates joy and resiliency in a way that very few do, and it is because of this and his service to others that he is Carson High School’s Senior in the Spotlight. Academically, Mikey stands out in a class of incredibly competitive young people. He boasts a 4.15 GPA, and he constantly challenges himself by taking honors courses. Mikey has lettered in academics the last two years. He excels in courses that require teamwork and community engagement, and all of his teachers highlight Mikey’s positive attitude as infectious amongst his peers.

The Carson City School District is asking parents to mark their calendars for Monday, March 4, 2024, when all Pre-K, Kindergarten, new and returning student updates and registrations will begin. This year, in order to be admitted into kindergarten, all students MUST be 5-years-old on or before Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024.

The Ormsby Association of Carson City (OACC), on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation (CCSF), was pleased to donate $5,304.30 to Mr. Lance Hendee, Comprehensive Life Skills (CLS) and Special Education teacher at Carson High School, for the school’s Alternate Standards Program.

Carson High Students Admire Latino Artist Guillermo Bert Exhibit at NMOA

Guillermo Bert, an artist who was born in Santiago de Chile in 1959, was recently featured at the Nevada Museum of Art (NMOA), in Reno. Carson High School Heritage Spanish 2 students, who had previously studied the artist and some of his works, were able to visit the exhibition Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024. Through their studies, the Carson High students knew from what perspective to observe Bert’s art including topics such as commercialism, indigenism, futurism, heritage and more.
