Carson City School District’s Risk Manager Ann Cyr was recognized during the school board meeting last night for her safety efforts throughout the district. Alan Kalt, chief financial officer from Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool and Public Agency Compensation Trust (POOL/PACT), presented the district a Loss Control Excellence Award with a plaque and a check in the amount of $3,500 for the continued safety effort.

The Loss Control Excellence Program involves a rigorous review of the member’s policies and procedures geared towards the reduction of loss. Members who complete the program receive a cash award and a plaque representing their commitment to implementing effective loss control measures. It is anticipated the money will be reinvested in Carson City school safety efforts.

The school district may only qualify for the award every three years. In interim years, the member may also qualify for a continuation award of $750.00 for enhancements to their risk management programs.

The Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool (POOL) was formed in 1987. By pooling resources, Nevada public entities discovered that they could obtain property casualty coverage at a reasonable cost, and access risk management resources superior to those previously offered to smaller, rural municipalities. The Public Agency Compensation Trust was formed in 1996 to provide workers compensation coverage. POOL/PACT members include counties, cities, school districts, special districts and towns. Every member actively manages the risks encountered as a public agency.
