The Carson City School District will host a Community Connections K-12 Career Quest event next week, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 5:30-7:45 p.m. at Carson High School. Dinner will be provided by Chartwells. There is no cost for the event.

The event aims to inspire and guide the next generation (kindergarten through 12th grade) towards a fulfilling and prosperous future exploring technology, healthcare, business and the arts. Students, families and community members will learn about the relationship between education and career readiness and how school experiences prepare students for success in diverse fields, including high-skill and high-demand careers.

The event is designed to be fun for the whole family and will offer special CPR, drone and robotics demonstrations.

Empire Elementary will provide a presentation on their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program. Eagle Valley Middle School, Carson Middle School and Carson High will share information regarding their CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs. Pioneer Academy will share program information for Engineering, Anatomy, Physiology and J4NG (Jobs for Nevada's Graduates). Western Nevada College and JOIN representatives will also be present.

Outside of this special meeting, the purpose of these quarterly Community Connections meetings with school officials is to accumulate feedback from community members on how the school district’s updated strategic plan is performing and suggest ideas and systems to better help meet the goals, objectives and strategies of the district’s plan.

Individuals planning on attending are welcome to share this invitation with colleagues, friends and neighbors who might be interested in attending and/or joining the group. Community members may park along the curb in front of Carson High School and enter the building at the south entrance near the flagpole or park in the north parking lot and enter through the north foyer.
