Fifth graders from all six public elementary schools as well as Carson Montessori and Saint Teresa’s will perform as a unified holiday choir for the 30th annual Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights on the Capitol steps in downtown Carson City Friday, Nov. 30, at 5:30 p.m. The students have been practicing the musical arrangements since the end of October.

District Hauls in Awards and Positions

The Carson City School District was a point of highlight in the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) Annual Conference this past Saturday, Nov. 17. Once a year, NASB recognizes the achievements and contributions of school boards, school trustees, teachers, administrators, educational advocates and others from across the state of Nevada. Additionally, the association elected new officers for 2018-2019. The Carson City School District hauled in nearly a quarter of the awards (5 out of 19) among the 17 districts statewide. Additionally, two Carson City School Board trustees were recognized for their service and achievements in their roles as NASB elected officers.

Sixth graders in Mrs. Laurel Dority’s science class at Carson Middle School (CMS) had the opportunity to chat via video conference with Dr. TJ Fudge, who’s preparing to leave for another 6-week expedition where he’ll continue his efforts to study climate change using ice core samples.
