Work-based learning at the Carson City School District is described as an educational strategy that offers all students the opportunity to connect classroom learning to business/industry experiences.

The work-based learning program incorporates four components: academic alignment, employer engagement, connection to employment/occupation or career choice, and preparation or pursuit of industry-recognized credentials as applicable

The continuum of experiences is provided through their school and in partnerships with employers, and community or governmental organizations in accordance with NRS 389.167 and the 2017 Carson City School District Strategic Plan, Goal #5: A Community in Full Partnership.

Opportunities for partnership in the work-based learning continuum range from guest speaking, to participating in career fairs, mock interviews, to providing industry tours, job shadowing,
and internship opportunities.
