Augenblick, Palaich and Associates (APA), a consulting firm for the Nevada State Legislature, has been authorized and is conducting a school finance study on behalf of the state of Nevada that includes identifying the resources needed to serve at-risk students, English language learners and special education students throughout Nevada.

The Carson City School District's Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE) recently sponsored a summer theater camp in partnership with Wild Horse Children's Theater. Fifty students from across the district participated in this camp, which culminated with a live performance of Aladdin at the Brewery Arts Center last Friday night. The camp and final performance were well received by students and families, and the GATE program looks forward to sponsoring additional productions in the future. More than 270 people attended the summer camp production.

Nearly two dozen pieces of student artwork, which previously decorated the walls of the corridors of Seeliger Elementary School, has be removed and hopefully will be reunited with their original creators or family members. The alumni pieces date back as early as 1982, are neatly framed and range from kindergartners to fifth graders

More than 200 Carson Middle School (CMS) future health professional – Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) – earned real-world healthcare certifications. Nearly all the students taking Ms. Victoria Jaacovi’s Introduction to HOSA class and Mr. Dayne Carmichael’s Sports Medicine class finished the 2018 school year certified in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
