Two Teachers Earn National Board Certifications

The Carson City School District is celebrating two new National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Recognition will come at Tuesday’s school board meeting. NBCT is widely considered to be the highest professional recognition for educators and includes a five percent pay increase in acknowledgement of accomplished teaching.  READ MORE...

The Carson City School District recently added a new video to a playlist at CarsonCitySchools.com that highlights how incredible the teaching profession is as well as the many challenges faced and rewards that come from being an educator. “All our hearts are aching for all the Roman family this morning as we mourn the tragic passing of their son this past weekend. 2020 School Board Leaders

At the first school board meeting of the year Tuesday, Jan. 14, Mike Walker was named the newest president of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees. He replaced former President Stacie Wilke-McCulloch, as the school board’s leader. Trustees Joe Cacioppo and Richard Varner were also elected vice president and clerk, respectively. Cacioppo replaced former Vice President Walker and Varner replaced former Clerk Don Carine.  READ MORE...
Crookshanks Named Delegate for SRM

Carson High School Senior Cade Crookshanks, 17, has been selected by the Nevada Section of the Society for Range Management (SRM) to participate in the High School Youth Forum (HSYF), a SRM sponsored youth activity held jointly during the 73 Annual SRM meeting. LEGO League Team Earns 2nd Place

Mark Twain Elementary School has been selected to receive funding and support for the next five years to build and maintain a FIRST LEGO League team for students in grades 4-8, ages 9-14. The funding opportunity, totaling more than $6,150 over the course of the next five years, comes as part of the Tesla K-12 Education Investment in Nevada program.  READ MORE...
