Goals

Opportunity School Hours 

Students attend classes from 9:20 am - 1:45 pm (M-F)  Opportunity School students are not permitted to be on campus prior to 9:10am and not after 1:55pm.

What is Opportunity School?

Opportunity School is the CCSD behavior program that serves the two high schools and two middle schools. Students can be referred to Opportunity School by site administration for habitual disciplinary issues.  Students who move from other districts with disciplinary issues, suspensions/expulsions, may be referred to start at Opportunity School.

Duration at Opportunity School

Students will successfully complete a minimum of  90-180 school days at Opportunity School based upon their start date.  (Some Exceptions are Possible)

After successful completion of the program, they will have the choice to return to to CHS or apply for Pioneer High School.

School Uniforms and Dress Code Policy

School uniforms are a requirement at Opportunity School.  Families must purchase an Opportunity School polo shirt for 10.00.  Additional shirts can be purchased at parent request.  All Opportunity specific student disciplinary rules must be followed in addition to the CCSD standard student discipline expectations.

Attendance and Behavior Contracts are signed by guardians and students for acceptance in the program.

Regular K-9 searches are held throughout the year at random.

Transportation

There is no school transportation provided.

Credit Recovery Options

Students can obtain recovery credit through A+ Backbone Communications on site.

1-To align our curriculum with concepts, ideas, and skills required to improve student achievement on HSPE (Proficiency Exams).

2-To provide a safe learning environment.

3-To address behavioral and academic needs of students.

4-To complete the criteria necessary to return to the regular high school settings provided at Pioneer or Carson High School in Carson City.
