Students achievement in reading and language arts will increase through combined efforts of our staff, our parents, and our community

Objectives

  • Provide reading instruction at students' individual reading level.

  • Train new staff members in California Early Literacy Learning (CELL) and Extended Literacy Learning (ExLL).

  • Train two Literacy Coordinators.

  • Continue staff development in literacy during nine guided meetings.

  • Continue staff development in standards and differentiating instruction.

  • Inservice staff on new math textbooks and supplementary resources.

  • Change handwriting instruction to block for primary students.

To improve the school facilities to be a positive learning environment.

Objectives

  • Train Parent/Volunteer Trainer.

  • Provide training for volunteers who work in the school on reading strategies and use of school equipment.

  • Provide parent training evenings on various subjects, e.g., scientific method, reading strategies, homework/organization tips, etc.

  • Track the number of volunteer hours.

  • Continue to require nightly reading as part of students' homework for grades kindergarten through fifth.
