Mission

We, the school board, teachers, support staff and administrators of the Carson City School District, believe that students with high ability and talents should be nurtured and encouraged through their educational careers.  We further believe that in order to meet the needs of our gifted and academically talented youngsters, programs must be established to permit these students to work together, under the guidance of trained teachers, in an atmosphere that is academically rigorous and designed to enhance creativity.  The core curriculum is the foundation for the differentiated instruction and methodologies used with our gifted and academically talented students.  We believe that even though a child may possess the potential to be highly successful in specific areas and may be identified as such, it is the responsibility of that student to perform to the expectations of the teacher and administrators at the individual school in order to continue receiving program services.  Finally, we believe that gifted education should be an integral part of every school day for every gifted child.

Vision

Our vision is that all students identified as having exceptional abilities will be given the opportunity and the guidance through their educational program to develop to their full potential.

Our Goals

To provide an educational program which enables each identified student to develop his/her thinking and self esteem to the fullest potential.

To provide specialized and ongoing training for teachers on how to provide these educational opportunities within the regular classroom.

To encourage responsibility within the student.

To develop programs which will assist parents to better understand the abilities and needs of these students.

To organize a network of community, statewide and national resources.

To create an enthusiasm in the cluster group classroom that will encourage all students to raise their own expectations of their personal performance.

To serve a broader base of our student population with a more challenging and enriched curriculum.
