                            INTRODUCTION

                          All 7th Grade students will be required to take CTE. Each student will take Health and Computers.They will also take two of the following                                     four classes: Art, Metal Shop, Technology, and Home & Careers. Each of the classes will take nine weeks.


                            HEALTH

                            7th Grade Health focuses mostly on decision making and how choice determines the outcome of that decision.The class examines abuse of                                   drugs and the negative consequences associated with addiction. Next students go to the Family Life Unit. In this unit students will learn about                                    healthy relationships, the reproductive system, consequences of sexual activity, and why waiting is an excellent choice. Health is taught by                                         Mrs. Schuette,who is located in room 47. Her room telephone number is 283-2862.

                            COMPUTERS

                          Computers familiarizes the students with the computer and introduces the students to Microsoft Office applications. They will use Microsoft                                   Office XP to complete several assignments. The Word assignments will emphasize data input, proof reading, formatting, use of spell and                                           grammar check; Excel will be used for spreadsheets and graphing; and Powerpoint will be used to complete a presentation that will be given to                                 the class. Students will also learn the parts of the computer, reviewcomputer ethics, and how to save to the correct folder. This class is taught                                   by Mrs. Randall in room 16.                              ART

                           Art is intended to introduce students to the fundamentals of art making. In Art students will explore the concepts of drawing, painting, crafts,                                 and two/three dimensional design. They will be taught to use various art materials such as such as pencil, pastel, water color, charcoal, colored                                 pencil, markers, scratch art, collage, acrylic and tempera paints. For students to be successful in class they will need to come to class prepared.                               This includes keeping an updated notebook for assignments, vocabulary, and daily sponge activities. Art is taught by Mr. Martin.He is situated                                 in room 60 and his class telephone number is 283-2873.

                            METAL SHOP

                          Metal Shop introduces the safe, efficient use of materials and practical skills, and the use of metal tools while planning and constructing                                           individual projects. In this class they will learn about a variety of topics that include shop safety, measurement, layout, sheet metal shearing,                                       fabrication, and oxyacetylene welding. This class willcombine the previously stated skills along with the student's prior knowledge base of math                                 and science with a hands-on learning environment in order to create a real-world learning experience. This class is taught by Mr. Samson. He is                               located in room 64 and his class number is 283-2868.

                            TECHNOLOGY

                          In Technology, students will become inventors and innovators while exploring such topics as Transportation, Alternative Energy, Space,                                         Pneumatics, and Robotics & Communication. Students will work in an independent manner. Students will also learn about aerodynamics and                                   Bernoulli's Principal through Delta Dart glider construction; aeronautic and Newton's Law of Motion through a Bottle Rocket activity, Internet                                 reasearch and Website Evaluation through guided instruction and the Technologist Wanted posters, Graphic Design and Problem-Solving in                                     the Game Board Project, Finally, basic computer drafting and use of power tools through the Wooden Name Project. Technology is taught by                                 Mrs. Stocke who is located in room 66. Her telephone Number is 283-2869.

                            HOME & CAREERS

                           Home and Careers focuses on problem solving and decision-making skills geared toward success in life.The students will be learning basic                                   machine sewing, including sewing tools, machine parts, and sewing machine operation. Students will complete a simple sewing project. Students                               will also explore their interests and skills in relation to careers and will complete a career exploration project. This class is taught by Mrs.                                         Longero who is located in room 56. Her class telephone number is 283-2866.
