7th Grade Vocational Survey is a year-round elective. It consists of the classes: Art, Health, Home & Careers, Metal Shop, Technology, and Keyboarding. Each class is a six-week session.
Art
To Top of Page

Art Class is taught by Mrs. Romanowitz. Students begin with designing an Art Portfolio to store the assignments required in class. Each class will begin with a 10 minute warm-up sketch. The 7th grade students will begin to learn more about value scales, shading, and color in the continued learning of the elements of design: line, shape, texture, space, value, and color. They will also begin using tempera paint, make color wheels, explore scratchboard design, and introduce printmaking skills. Art history will be presented as much as possible.
Health

Health Class is taught by Mrs. Schuette. 7th graders cover a unit on Drug Education. Tolerance, respect, self esteem, and peer pressure is also stressed. A Family Living Education unit is covered during the last two weeks.
Home & Careers

Home & Careers class is taught by Mrs. Wines. Students will be sewing during the 6 weeks. Parts of the sewing machine and how to operate it is covered. They will be completing a pillow project. During the 6 weeks, each student is also responsible for turning in 2 career computer assignments.
Metal Shop

Metal Shop is taught by Mr. Schultz. Students will learn: safe work practices, measuring and layout, sheet metal fabrication, oxyacetylene safety and welding, different metals and their properties. Students will be expected to act in a cooperative and responsible manner.
Technology
To Top of Page

Technology class is instructed by Mrs. Stocke. Students design solutions to a variety of problems working with one or more partners. Cooperative efforts and problem solving are stressed. Topics include flight, transportation, computer applications, tooling skills, and design process.
Typing
To Top of Page

Keyboarding class is taught by Mrs. Daub. Keyboarding/Word Processing is designed to review the alphabetic keyboard, and learn the numeric and symbol keys. The students will use word processing, Mavis Beacon and Hyper Studio programs. The students put keyboarding skills to work in formatting and processing reports, letters, and announcements. They will use proofreading and editing skills to produce documents.
